About 80% of the CEOs across the globe have a fairly average IQ. What does this tell us? Intelligence doesn’t take us to that level; we have to carve our own path. That’s where Time Management becomes an important factor. One needs to be aware and know how to manage one’s time and make oneself more productive.
So what really is Time Management? Time Management is about:
The first and most vital step you need to take is finding out where does your time actually go. You may believe that you only spend 30 minutes replying to emails. However, in reality, that task eats up an hour of your day. Spend a week assessing how you spend the time you have right now. What are you doing and how many hours do you really need to do those things?
It prevents you from getting distracted or procrastinating. For example: if you want to complete a task, give yourself two hours. So, if you started at 8am, you will try to get it done by 10am. In a way, it becomes a challenging game, but how do you use it efficiently?
The Pareto Principle, also known as the 80-20 rule, suggests that 80% of results come from 20% of the effort we put in. When it comes to how you should manage your time, this principle can also be applied. Its aim? To help you focus on what’s really important and filter out what’s not. But how do you figure out that 20% which gives you 80% of the result?
When you’re a perfectionist, nothing will ever be good enough. That means you’ll keep going back to same task over and over again. Perfection doesn’t really exist so what exactly are you chasing?
One of the biggest time-wasters we have are our poor habits. Whether it’s Netflix binge-watching, playing virtual games, or surfing social media, poor habits take away our precious time in the name of (non-organic) entertainment. You know you need to eliminate those poor habits and achieve big goals in life, but how?
Well, it is a huge topic to cover, and so, we’d be organising a workshop on Time Management and Prioritisation on the 15th of this month (Tuesday). This is a must-do workshop for entrepreneurs who want to find out the answer to the aforementioned questions + wish to learn:
